Meet The Teachers

I am a 6th grade math and science teacher in Richardson ISD. I have been a teacher for 12 years. I went back to college to get my teaching certificate when my youngest son was finishing elementary school. I love teaching and the opportunity it gives me to add to the learning and growth of my students each year. I love helping my students learn new skills and develop the belief in themselves that they are capable of great things. I am currently working on my master’s in education so that I can lead by example for my students. The process of learning is neverending and there is always more knowledge to be gained.

My name is Candice Clark, and I am a Special Education teacher in the ASPIRE program at Memorial High School in Frisco, Texas. Our program works with post-high school adults (age 18-22) with disabilities, providing them with activities and instruction to assist with transition into life after high school. We focus on independent living skills, as well as social and job skills, with the goal for our students to attain as much independence as possible.

I have been teaching for 27 years, all within Special Education. I love what I do, and I especially love seeing my students’ sense of pride and purpose when they are able to achieve their goals. We work with populations that are often overlooked, and it brings me a tremendous sense of satisfaction to see them shine and grow.

Many of the students we work with on the Autism Spectrum have sensory issues, and the supplies on our Amazon list would help us keep items on hand to give them strategies and coping skills to use on a daily basis as needed.

I have spent the last four years teaching kindergarten at a Title 1 school in Lockhart, Texas. I graduated from Texas State University in 2020 and have been at Clear Fork Elementary ever since. Since then, I have grown so much in craft. I have learned so much from the educators around me in this district, as well as the students that walk through my door. Teaching at a Title 1 school certainly has its challenges, but I am so proud to be in the district that I am in because they prioritize the whole child and the health of the teachers.

I teach Kindergarten because it is a passion of mine to be (a lot of times) the first exposure to school that these students have. I love that I can instill in them a love of learning so early on and make the students passionate about the rest of their academic career. I appreciate being considered and am thankful for all you do for the support of teachers.

I began my full-time teaching career in 2022, teaching at our freshman campus in New Braunfels. In 2023, I began my second year and added classes at the high school campus, as well. I am a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher, and I teach business information management, business, marketing & finance, and principles of IT classes to freshmen through seniors.

I enjoy the opportunity to help prepare students for real-world applications, employability skills, and prep for college and beyond. Teaching for me is a life-long learning experience. I thoroughly enjoy learning alongside students and continuing my education, as well.

I have been a teacher for 18 years. I come from a family of educators, with both my parents and my brother being teachers, as well as my sister-in-law. Teaching is a passion that runs deep in my family. I spent 10 years teaching fourth grade until I found my true calling as an elementary theatre teacher. In this role, I have the opportunity to build confidence in children starting from kindergarten.

It is truly rewarding to see children who were once quiet and shy now singing solos and performing in musicals in fourth grade. One of my greatest accomplishments has been helping selective mute children come out of their shell and confidently speak in front of their class, participate in musicals and plays, and raise their hands and confidently ask for what they need. Theatre teaches essential soft skills that foster empathy and effective interactions with others. It helps develop creativity and teaches children about emotions and how to effectively handle them, as well as teaching self-control, perseverance, and patience. With budget cuts in education throughout Texas, our district has had to cut many fine arts positions resulting in me teaching at two campuses next year. This doubles my supply costs. With our current budget crisis, campus budgets have also been reduced. So, any help I can get would be amazing!

I am a Special Education teacher at Sharpstown High School in Houston, TX. I was first introduced to students with disabilities in high school. I was placed in a sociology class where we learned about different cultures and people. My sociology class worked closely with the Special Ed – Life Skills classroom, a self-contained class for students with moderate to severe disabilities. It quickly became my favorite class! I absolutely loved the environment and the “chaotic good” energy from all the students. I decided that working with people with disabilities was what I would dedicate my life and career to.

Sharpstown is a Title 1 school, which means most of the student population is considered socioeconomically disadvantaged. I was a student-teacher at Sharpstown while pursuing my teaching degree from the University of Houston. I fell in love with the diversity of the students and the Special Education program at the campus.

I currently teach in a self-contained Life Skills classroom, like the one that sparked my passion for teaching. Because it is a self-contained classroom, my students stay with me the majority of the day. It also means I have had some of the same students for more than the typical one year, as they are allowed to stay in school until they’re 22. Some students have been with me for 4+ years! With that being said, we grow very close. My students are sweet, hardworking, and always joyous. Making sure their learning environment is engaging and supplied with tools to help them acquire daily living skills is something we would greatly appreciate.

I have been a high school teacher for five years now, but I have worked in education before this as a college writing tutor for three years. English has always been my strength which is why I decided to become an English teacher. I love history, poems, plays, stories, and films. My goal every year is to show that through exploration and analysis, students can find themselves reflected within these pieces of creativity because everyone has a unique voice and opinion and it is important to diversify their worldview.

I am a first year Special Education Teacher at Evans Middle School. I was a paraprofessional in Special Education for four years before getting my teaching certification. I am a mom to two boys (17 and 14-years-old), and I have been a foster parent for six years and have had 19 foster children. I always wanted to be a teacher, but being a mom took center stage when my biological sons were born. They were both born with cystic fibrosis, and I became their full-time caregiver. Over the years, their health has improved tremendously, and I have been able to fulfill my dream of teaching. Children with special needs hold a special place in my heart, and I love getting to work in a Special Education classroom! Thank you so much for considering me for this opportunity!

I’ve been a teacher for nine years. I teach fourth grade reading/language arts/social studies. I teach at Jowell Elementary School located in the Cy-Fair School District. My school is comprised of 90% low-economic families. This would benefit my classroom tremendously, as I’m always buying school supplies and books for my students.

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was a young child. Teaching runs in my family. My grandmother taught in Venezuela for 45 years. I love my job. I love seeing my students’ faces light up when they learn something new. I love doing project-based learning with my students. Since I teach reading, I’m always thinking of ways to engage my students, whether through read alouds or writing activities. In the age of technology, it’s difficult to get young students excited about reading books or writing, but I find books that generate interests from my students.

Last school year, I was nominated and won the coveted “Teacher of the Year” award for my school. It was such an incredible feeling of accomplishment to be recognized. Teaching is not easy. On any given day, I wear several hats in my classroom: teacher, counselor, friend, and sometimes a mom figure. I love my students as if they are my own children.

Even when it feels like the world is against teachers, I remember my “why”. Teaching is what I was meant to do with my life. Bringing the joy of learning to my students, being someone who they can trust and someone who will show them unconditional love, and advocating for my students is why I do this. Thank you for this opportunity.
