2020 – Spring-TXWA-Scholarship – Application

TXWA SCHOLARSHIP

GENERAL INFORMATION & GUIDELINES

• Up to three Scholarships will be awarded for the SPRING 2020 Semester. ($3,000 each)
• Student must be a relative or family member of a TXWA member.
• Student must be enrolled in and attend an accredited University or College in the state of Texas for the applicable Scholarship Semester (SPRING 2020).
• Undergraduate and Graduate students are eligible.
• The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student in any course study.
• The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 to qualify for the scholarship.

Applicant must meet the above criteria to qualify for candidacy.

Complete Application Package Includes:  Cover Letter, Application, Reference Letters and Essay.   **NOTE** Incomplete applications WILL NOT be considered. 

The deadline for all paperwork (including reference letters) is mid-night:  January 1, 2020 Midnight

Scholarships will be announced on or before January 15th, 2020.

Scholarship recipients will be contacted and required to provide a copy of a valid Student ID and their respective University Financial Advisors contact information to arrange award payment.

TXWA Scholarship Committee will confirm selected recipients are in attendance as a full-time student at an accredited Texas University/College and academically eligible to release payment. TXWA will pay the awarded amount by January  31, 2020.  Payment will be made directly to the College/University through coordination with the recipients Financial Advisor.

  COVER LETTER INSTRUCTIONS:

 Single Page Letter – highlighting candidate:

ESSAY INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Essay should be no more than 500 words

QUESTIONS:

1. How do you think cellular phones impact society positively and negatively?
2. Do you think cellular phones will be around in 25 years and if so how so how will people be using them?  If not, how would we interact with each other?
3. How would your life be impacted if you were without your cell phone for one week?  How does communication today differ from how your older relatives communicated when they were in school?

Please use this opportunity to tell us about yourself.  Remember the committee members may not know you and you need to provide them with a good overall perspective of who you are and what you plan to do in the future.
